[Television] Walking Dead Companion Series/Spin Off Series Announced

Today I learnt that there is going to be a Walking Dead 'spin off' type series of other goings on in Robert Kirkman's post-apocalyptic world!

This could either go really really well, or be an absolute disaster. The characters from the original Walking Dead will not be in it but I'm wondering if it is based around the characters such as Lilly, Bob, Josh and all the other characters from the Governor novels written by Kirkman or if it is going to be completely different people? The article says it will be based on other people, but considering it is in such early stages of planning, I don't see why the likes of Lilly won't be able to at least make a cameo appearance. Kirkman has already stated that it would not be set in Georgia, for obvious reasons, but it would be interesting as to where? Will it still be in the States or will he opt for another country, like England? My bet is the States though, it's easier for them.

However, it may go insanely wrong as if it is based on others, they could run the risk of using up all of their ideas. Ultimately making both series very similar - and nobody wants that. Considering how greatly received The Walking Dead dead is, Kirkman and AMC would surely not want to jeopardise the raging success that they currently have, right? Kirkman has already addressed this subject as he too can understand that the viewers do not want the writers to appear to have sold out.

I, however, cannot wait for this series to air, I'm really looking forward to it! Hopefully it'll be amazing just like The Walking Dead itself.
